Abstract : PREP for Success: Practice Ready Educational Preparation through Innovative Simulation Pedagogy

This project, PREP for Success, addresses critical gaps in competency-based nursing education by implementing a longitudinal framework for simulation. Utilizing the SimZones model, this approach provides structured, progressive competency tracking aligned with all AACN Essentials domains. By focusing on Practice Ready Educational Preparation, the project emphasizes the need for continuous assessment and real-time feedback to support learners’ development across key domains, particularly Informatics and Healthcare Technologies.

SimZones serves as a flexible model that allows educators to facilitate adaptive learning experiences, where students receive targeted guidance throughout their educational journey. This structured pathway enhances not only knowledge and skill acquisition but also cultivates critical thinking and decision-making, preparing students to meet real-world demands in diverse healthcare settings.

Preliminary findings suggest that this innovative framework fosters sustainable learning outcomes by enabling consistent competency tracking and feedback. PREP for Success offers an evidence-based model that can be adopted widely to meet the AACN Essentials, bridging the gap between academic preparation and clinical readiness in a measurable, impactful way.
