Dawn Hovas Kallaher joined the University of Memphis Loewenberg College of Nursing in October 2023 as the full-time Nursing Lab Manager. In December 2024, she was promoted to become the Director of Simulation. She has served as part-time pharmacology instructor and part-time clinical instructor for pediatrics at the Loewenberg College of Nursing as well. In addition, she has also served as an adjunct clinical faculty for Southwest Tennessee Community College in Memphis, TN and Dyersburg State Community College in Dyersburg, TN.
Dawn graduated from the University of Mississippi in Augst 1996 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Mathematics. She worked in logistics and healthcare information systems until she decided to return to school to become a registered nurse. She graduated with an Associate Degree in Nursing from Southwest Tennessee Community College in May 2016 and began working as a registered nurse at Regional One Health. She has worked in direct patient care in women’s health, NICU, infectious disease, and home health. She received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing in May 2021 and her Master of Science in Nursing Education in December 2022 from University of Memphis Loewenberg College of Nursing. Her most recent bedside position is in NICU at Baptist Memorial Hospital for Women where she currently works PRN. She is enrolled at Tennessee Technical Institute Whitson-Hester School of Nursing in the Doctor of Nursing in Executive Healthcare Leadership program which is combined with East Tennessee State University with an expected completion in August 2027. She is a member of the American Nurses Association, Tennessee Nurses Association, Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society, International Nursing Association for Clinical Simulation and Learning, and the Society for Simulation in Healthcare.
