Dr. Janice Palaganas is a Professor of Health Professions Education, Founding Director of the MGH IHP Center of Excellence in Healthcare Simulation Research, and Principal Investigator of the Research in Experiential-Based Education and Learning (REBEL) Lab Massachusetts General Hospital Institute of Health Professions (MGH IHP), as well as Lecturer at Harvard Medical School. The focus of her research is AI and simulation in assessment, feedback conversations, and comparison of simulation modalities and methods. Dr. Palaganas has developed a passion in teamwork from her background as an emergency nurse, trauma nurse practitioner, director of emergency and critical care services, and faculty for schools of medicine, nursing, business, management, physician assistant programs, and emergency medicine. She is also a Certified Executive Coach for hospital and academic leaders. As a behavioral scientist and former clinician and administrator, Dr. Palaganas’ passion is in using healthcare simulation as a platform for interprofessional education (IPE) and has served as a member of the National Academy of Medicine’s (IOM) report on measuring the impact of IPE on practice. She led the Center for Medical Simulation’s Instructor Course educating educators in simulation globally and was the principal investigator of a board grant awarded by the Josiah Macy Jr. Foundation. Dr. Palaganas has shaped the field of simulation and feedback conversations, led the development of the Society for Simulation’s (SSH) Accreditation and Certification Programs, was an Editor of three textbooks and has over 100 publications including the national study for high-stakes assessment using simulation with over 100 publications. She is co-podcaster on “DJ Simulationistas….’sup?” "What's your delta? Faculty Development," and “SimFails.” Dr. Palaganas has been an invited keynote speaker and visiting professor in 30 countries.
