Jeanette Tanafranca, DNP, RN, NPD-BC (she/her/hers)
Jeanette Tanafranca is a dedicated nurse leader, educator, and advocate with over 30 years of experience in nursing. She earned her Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) from the University of Detroit Mercy and both her Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) and Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from Wayne State University.
Currently, Jeanette serves as the Detroit Campus Coordinator and an Assistant Professor at Michigan State University’s College of Nursing. In this role, she oversees the Detroit Campus, including its simulation center, while also contributing as didactic faculty and simulation education. Her areas of expertise include emergency nursing, management, nursing education, infection prevention and control, quality and patient safety, and accreditation.
Jeanette is an American Heart Association (AHA) CPR and First Aid instructor and holds ANCC certification in Nursing Professional Development. She is also an active member of the Southeast Michigan Nurses Honor Guard. A recognized speaker at national conferences, she has presented at the Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI) Patient Safety Summit on Implementing a Hand Hygiene Program in an Ambulatory Care Setting, the Philippine Nurses Association of America (PNAA) Conference on Safety Champion Program and Human Factors, and the American Academy of Ambulatory Care Nursing (AAACN) Annual Conference on Personal Safety Survey: A Self-Assessment Tool for Registered Nurses in an Ambulatory Care Setting Using a Human Factors Approach.
Committed to professional development and community engagement, Jeanette is a member of multiple esteemed organizations, including the Philippine Nurses Association of America (PNAA), Philippine Nurses Association of Michigan (PNAM), International Nursing Association of Clinical Simulation and Learning (INACSL), Midwestern Nursing Research Society (MNRS), and the American Nurses Association (ANA). She also serves as a board member of the Filipino American Community Council of Michigan (FILAMCCO).
