Shelly Amato-Curran PhD, APRN-CNS, CRRN serves as the Coordinator of the Doctor of Nursing Practice Program and Assistant Professor at Walsh University. She earned her diploma at Fairview General Hospital School of Nursing and went on to earn her BSN at The University of Akron. She earned both her MSN and PhD in nursing at Kent State University.
Shelly has over 35 years of experience in nursing in a variety of settings although much of her career was spent in neuro and trauma rehabilitation. Prior to joining the Walsh faculty, Shelly worked as a Clinical Nurse Specialist for over 20 years and is certified in rehabilitation nursing. She has been a manuscript reviewer for two peer-reviewed journals and served on the Editorial Board for Rehabilitation Nursing Journal. Shelly served on the IRB at the MetroHealth System and was Vice Chair of the IRB until retiring in 2021. Shelly’s program of research has focused on a variety of clinical topics including the effects of the hospital environment on sleep in persons with TBI, the effects of COVID on rehabilitation outcomes, and simulation for undergraduate students.
