Doug Ayers, BSN, RN, CHSE, is the Simulator Technology Manager at the Interprofessional Simulation Center at GVSU. He is accountable for all hospital-based simulations' design and operational aspects, including low to high-fidelity patient simulators. In addition, Doug coordinates and assists in the training of Elsevier-generated simulation cases using standardized patients that occur in the inpatient setting. Doug works closely with faculty from various health-related disciplines to discuss the simulation design process to ensure all learning objectives of the simulation are met and to provide an optimum learning experience for learners. In addition, he manages and oversees the Standardized Technical Communicators Program, including hiring, training, and evaluation of the temporary employees. He has published an article in the Simulation Technology & Operations Research Magazine (STORM) regarding using Standardized Technical Communicators in a large simulation center. His clinical experience includes inpatient psychiatric care, and he is pursuing a Doctor of Nursing Practice degree.
