Dr. Christina Quick is an Assistant Professor at the Kirkhof College of Nursing, Grand Valley State University (GVSU). Since 2021, Dr. Quick has served in the position of Co-Coordinator of Simulation for Academic Excellence as a Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator (CHSE). Dr. Quick received her Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) at the Medical University of South Carolina, her Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from Johns Hopkins University, and a post-graduate certificate at Wayne State University. She is a dual-board-certified acute and primary care pediatric nurse practitioner with experience working in both acute and primary care pediatric healthcare settings. Her areas of interest include child maltreatment prevention, vulnerable pediatric healthcare, and the use of simulation in nursing and healthcare education. She has been published in peer-reviewed journals and has disseminated on simulation, education, and caring for vulnerable pediatric populations at the local, state, and national levels. Most recently, Dr. Quick received a $200,000 grant from the Michigan Health Endowment Fund as the primary investigator to conduct a community assessment evaluating opportunities and the need for developing integrated health models for children and youth in foster care in her community. Dr. Quick also participated as a key member of the grant-writing team, which was awarded $1.5 million from the Department of Health and Human Services to develop a multipatient simulation for undergraduate senior-level nursing students. Dr. Quick was the 2024 recipient of the Distinguished Early Scholar award at GVSU and was acknowledged for Outstanding Graduate Student Mentorship by her students and peers. Her teaching includes evidence-based practice and the management of children's and adolescent health, as well as simulation across the curriculum.
