Alicia Rita Rueda-Acedo is an Associate Professor of Spanish Translation and Literature at The University of Texas at Arlington, where she created and directs the Spanish Translation and Interpreting program, recipient of the 2023 Examples of Excelencia in Education award at the baccalaureate level. Alicia earned her Ph.D. in Hispanic Languages and Literatures from the University of California, Santa Barbara. She also holds a B.A. in Journalism from the University of Seville and a B.A. in Translation and Interpreting from the University of Granada, Spain. Among her publications are the books Miradas transatlánticas: el periodismo literario de Elena Poniatowska y Rosa Montero (2012) and Miradas y aperturas: el artículo de opinión en el periodismo literario de Poniatowska, Mastretta y Luiselli (2024), as well as numerous articles on transatlantic literature, literary journalism, and community translation and service-learning
