Kelly Niermeier is a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner with over 20 years of experience in pediatric care. She currently serves as a University of SC Clinical Assistant Professor in the College of Nursing and practices in primary care. Throughout her career, Kelly has been a strong advocate for high-risk and underserved populations, particularly children facing poverty and health disparities.
Kelly is committed to developing students' observable and verbal communication skills through unfolding simulation activities, ensuring alignment with the AACN Essentials. She emphasizes the importance of effective communication in navigating complex healthcare situations and improving patient outcomes, particularly for vulnerable communities.
Dedicated to advancing simulation in nursing education, Kelly engages in research focused on creating standardized peer evaluation forms and faculty observation rubrics to enhance the consistency and effectiveness of simulation-based learning.
