Dr. June Llerena
University of Tampa
Dr. June Llerena, is the Simulation Curriculum and Development Director at The University of Tampa in the Department of Nursing. She designing, integrates and facilitates simulation-based education within the nursing program.
Dr. Llerena has clinical background in Emergency and Trauma, and Multi Trauma/ Surgical Critical Care. She was a former Pre-Hospital Registered Nurse (PHRN), and flight nurse. She has worked in nursing education for the past 10 years. She has teaching experience in Nursing Professional Skills, Nursing Fundamentals, and Adult Medical Surgical Nursing. She is a subject matter expert for Elsevier’s Medical Surgical Digital Clinical Experiences.
Dr. Llerena completed her Associates Degree in nursing from Prince Georges Community College, a Bachelors in Nursing from Millersville University, a Masters in Nursing Education from the University of South Florida, and a doctorate in Nursing Science from Catholic University of America. Her dissertation research was on veteran medic transitions in to nursing programs.
Dr. Llerena is a Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator-Advanced (CHSE-A) by the Society for Simulation in Healthcare (SSH). She has presented nationally and internationally on Simulation scenario development, and simulation collaboration between academic and clinical programs. She is an active member of the Florida Healthcare Simulation Alliance. Dr. Llerena enjoys mentoring graduate nursing education students.
