Katie Cole is an Assistant Clinical Professor for the DNP Nurse Anesthesia program at the Nell Hodgson Woodruff School of Nursing. Katie serves in the role of simulation coordinator for the nurse anesthesia program. She also works clinically as a CRNA at Emory University Orthopedic and Spine Hospital.
Katie received her DNP from Georgia State University in 2021, her MNA from the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) in 2011, and her BSN from Augusta University in 2006. Dr. Cole is a graduate of the Woodruff Health Educators Teaching Fellowship and obtained her certification as a simulation healthcare educator (CHSE) in 2022. Dr. Cole is a current participant in the NLN Leadership Development for Simulation Educators Program. Katie’s scholarship focuses primarily on simulation development and aligning teaching methodologies with best practice to improve learning outcomes. Her most recent scholarship centers around incorporating VR into nurse anesthesia simulation education. Dr. Cole aims to provide an inclusive and psychologically safe learning environment using evidence-based teaching methodologies along with innovative and engaging teaching strategies to captivate students and drive successful outcomes.
