Dr. Tammy Schwaab is a Simulation Director and Professor at Carroll Community College in Westminster, MD. A Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator, Tammy has been actively engaged in simulation since 2010, and in nursing education since 2001. Her extensive training includes the Maryland Faculty Academy for Simulation Training 1.0 and 2.0 with Pam Jeffries, the National League for Nursing's Simulation Leader Program (graduate, 2018), the Maryland Clinical Simulation Resource Consortium (MCSRC) Simulation Education Leader Training I-III, formal training with Dr. Kristina Dreifuerst in Debriefing for Meaningful Learning (DML) theoretical debriefing, as well as several simulation-specific conference and workshops. Her Doctor of Nursing Practice project focused on the use of clinical simulation as a strategy to increase medical surgical new graduate registered nurse confidence and competence when caring for deteriorating patients.
Dr. Schwaab's simulation service includes being an active member of the OADN Simulation Committee, a Facilitator for the International Association for Clinical Simulation and Learning's (INACSL) Simulation Education Program, a MCSRC steering committee member, and an active Maryland Community and College Simulation User Network (MCCSUN) member since 2010, serving as the organizational Secretary from 2018-2020 and President from 2020 to 2025. She is also a member of the Society for Simulation in Healthcare (SSH) and INACSL. Tammy is passionate about using clinical simulation to advance nursing education and ultimately patient care outcomes.
