Professor Lisa McKenna was appointed Director of the Health Professions Clinical Education Unit at La Trobe University in Melbourne, Australia in 2025 after 8 years as Dean in the School of Nursing and Midwifery. She is a highly experienced academic and has researched and published extensively in educational research in nursing, midwifery and health professions, with particular focus on simulation, interprofessional education, graduate transition to practice, peer-assisted learning, non-technical skills and professional role development.
Lisa is a Fellow of the Australian College of Nursing and Fellow of the Australian and New Zealand Association for Health Professional Educators and a Member of the Health Complaints Commissioner's Advisory Council (2023- ) in Victoria, Member of the Victorian Simulation Alliance Board of Management (2024- ) and Chair of the Research Committee of the Victorian Simulation Alliance (2024- ).
Lisa has attracted extensive research funding and published extensively in refereed journals, books and book chapters across nursing, midwifery, and health professional journals with over 320 refereed journal articles, as well as many editorials. She is the current Editor-in-Chief of Clinical Simulation in Nursing (2024- ) and was Editor-in-Chief of Collegian: The Australian Journal of Nursing Practice, Scholarship and Research from 2014 - 2022. She is also currently Editorial Advisor for Nurse Education Today, and Editorial Board member of Indonesian Contemporary Nursing Journal and Jurnal Keperawatan Soedirman (The Soedirman Journal of Nursing).
