Ms. Mina Hogan is a Simulation Operations Specialist in the Nursing Skills and Technology Center (NSTC) at LSU Health Sciences Center- New Orleans School of Nursing (LSUHSC-NO SON). She also holds the rank of Instructor in the LSUHSC-NO SON and received her Certified Healthcare Simulation Operations Specialist (CHSOS) certification. Ms. Hogan also earned a teaching certification and worked seven years in secondary science education prior to transitioning into post-secondary health sciences education at LSUHSC-NO, where she developed, improved, evaluated, and refined various interprofessional education curricula. She has worked in the NSTC for the past year in her current role. She co-teaches the Beginning Spanish for Nursing elective, which uses simulation-based learning to improve student fluency and confidence when working with Limited-Language Proficiency patients. Her research interests include simulation, student engagement, and skills-based education, interprofessional education and collaborative practice, and cultural competency and inclusive care. She is a member of the Society for Simulation in Healthcare, where she is a peer reviewer for the STORM Magazine and an active member of the SOTS Nominations Workgroup and the Simulation Operations Technology Section. In the SON, she serves as the Chair of the Bylaws, Nominations, and Elections Committee and Faculty Organization Parliamentarian.
