Nicola Contreras DNP, RN, CHSE-A is the Director of Simulation and a Clinical Assistant Professor with the University of Washington's School of Nursing. She has been a nurse since 1995 and has been a nurse educator for the last 13 years. She completed the National League for Nursing’s (NLNs) Leadership Institute for Simulation educators, is a member of the NONPF Simulation Committee, and is currently the chair of the INACSL Membership Committee. Dr. Contreras has worked in healthcare simulation education in both the clinical and academic settings, designing and facilitating simulation-based learning experiences for a variety of health disciplines. She has presented nationally on the use of simulation for onboarding new graduate nurses, the use of simulation to assess learners, and most recently the use of simulation as a teaching strategy to engage learners. Dr. Contreras has collaborated to develop interprofessional in-person and virtual simulation trainings and has worked to develop curriculum to support both undergraduate and graduate nursing students.
