Joe Kastely is a Registered Nurse with 11 years of work experience in Medical/Surgical and Progressive Care Nursing with a focus on Respiratory Care. He obtained a National Certification in Medical Surgical Nursing, CMSRN. In addition, he has been faculty for the past 6 years with the Patricia A. Chin School of Nursing at California State University, Los Angeles, teaching at both the undergraduate and graduate levels and has served as a coordinator for the ABSN program at CSULA for the past 4 years. He recently transitioned into the role of Simulation Center Director, where he focuses on building immersive experience for students utilizing both traditional simulation tools and emerging technologies like virtual reality. He is a Double Alumni from the CSU system, earning a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from California State University, Long Beach and Master of Science in Nursing Education (MSN) from California State University, Los Angeles. He is a member of the California State University, Los Angeles, Nu Mu Chapter of Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing. Joe is committed to creating engaging learning environments in and out of the classroom and believes that fostering a growth mindset, by focusing on praising effort and incremental improvement, is crucial to creating equitable opportunities for all learners.
