Dr. Suzanne Hetzel Campbell, graduated from the University of Connecticut and the University of Rhode Island and is Professor Emeritus at the UBC, School of Nursing, in Vancouver, British Columbia Canada. She is a seasoned global educator who uses technology and experiential learning pedagogy. She has directed the development of simulation resource centers and faculty professional development and understanding the complexities of bringing classrooms to life she helps bridge the gap between education and practice. Suzanne's leadership in simulation is characterized by her commitment to being a role model, individualized supports tailored to the unique contexts of the people she mentors, and her ability to nurture innovative simulation approaches with her collaborators. Dr. Campbellās commitment to building capacity in simulation is evidenced by her ongoing leadership in facilitating faculty development workshops, mentoring new and seasoned authors to share their simulation designs in her award winning textbooks, and encouraging inter-professional simulations led by nurses. She is advancing interprofessional education, research, and practice by incorporating technical and non-technical skills such as communication, therapeutic relationship, leadership and team-building in her simulation research and international presentations and publications. Her passion is instrument development and the clinical area of lactation where she is using innovative simulators for health professional and student education. Her other passion is traveling and meeting and partnering with simulation enthusiasts across the globe. She is past VP International Affairs (2018-2020) continuing to serve on the committee, and is one of the faculty for the Canadian Association of Schools of Nurses Simulation Nurse Educator Certificate program.Her research interests are instrument development, reproductive social justice and the role of simulation in interprofessional education, especially advanced nursing practice.
