Sandra Mote, PhD, RN, PMHCNS-BC, CHSE

Sandra Mote has been a full-time faculty member at UMass Lowell since 2011 and was appointed director of simulation in 2022. She has twenty years of clinical experience as a Psychiatric Clinical Nurse Specialist. Sandra has contributed to the development of an experiential learning experiences for IPE students working with behavioral mental health and has facilitated college-wide IPE simulations. She earned her Ph.D. in 2021 studying mental health stigma among US emergency nurses and physicians. Sandra has been recognized for her work in IPE and has presented at several conferences includng the National Academies of Practice. Clinically, Sandra is interested in fostering therapeutic relationship development between healthcare providers and patients with mental health problems through standardized participant simulation.
