Healthcare Simulation Educator
Children's Hospital Colorado
Aurora, CO, United States
Mimi graduated summa cum laude with an award in Leadership in Nursing from the University of Nevada Las Vegas in 2013. She spent the next 8 years working in either pediatric or adult critical care in Las Vegas, Alabama, and Pennsylvania, with one year spent as the Patient Care Manager of a 30-bed mixed medical, surgical, and cardiac ICU. In Pennsylvania, Mimi found a passion for education as she became a PICU Nurse Educator challenged with onboarding new to critical care nurses in a new PICU unit that opened in February 2020. Shortly after, the COVID-19 pandemic complicated educational efforts wherein Mimi began using simulation as a tool to augment and optimize healthcare education during a tenuous time. When Mimi moved to Colorado, the decision to work at Children’s Hosptial Colorado in healthcare simulation education was natural. As a nurse, Mimi found joy in impacting the lives of patients and families each day. As an educator, she found passion in educating nurses who would continue to impact patients and families each day. And now, as a simulation educator, she finds purpose in intersecting education with technology to guide multi-disciplinary teams who will continue to impact the lives of patients and families. Mimi’s passion for education extends into life support teaching as a PALS instructor. She is an active member of the Society for Simulation in Healthcare and serves as the Secretary for the In situ and Mobile Outreach Affinity group.
