Clinical Assistant Professor
University of Kansas School of Nursing
Kansas City, KS, United States
For the past five years, Nate Mattson has been shaping the next generation of nurses as a Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of Kansas School of Nursing. With a passion for small-group simulation programming, he thrives in creating interactive learning environments where students can build confidence, refine their clinical judgment, and demonstrate competence in real-time scenarios.
His scholarship in simulation research has been published in Clinical Simulation and Nurse Educator alongside his mentor and colleague, Dr. Laura Klenke-Borgmann.
In addition to his role as an educator, Nate remains active in clinical practice, caring for the smallest and sickest patients in the NICU, Full-Term Nursery, general Pediatrics, and PICU at the University of Kansas Health System. His dual role as both professor and clinician allows him to bring fresh, real-world experiences into the classroom.
Outside of work, Nate embraces the great outdoors with his family or unwinds by riding his gravel bike down the scenic backroads of Kansas. Whether mentoring future nurses or tackling miles of open country, his dedication to lifelong learning and adventure is evident in everything he does.
