Kathleen Mau has a Doctorate in Nursing Practice and is an Acute Care Clinical Nurse Specialist. Dr. Mau is a certifed Emergency Nurse and holds certifications as an Advanced Nurse Executive and CHSE. She serves as the Senior Director for Cleveland Clinic’s Simulation and Advanced Skills Center, bringing more than 35 years of nursing experience to her role. In her current role, Dr. Mau provides administrative oversight and direction to multidisciplinary/multi-site simulation centers in OH and FL and an AHA Training Center. She is co-lead of the Cleveland Clinic Global Simulation Advisory Board where she supports global alignment and sharing of simulation best practices across the organization. She has conducted systematic program and organizational reviews and analyses locally, nationally, and internationally, and has led teams through strategic goal setting and planning based on these reviews. Dr. Mau led Cleveland Clinic’s nurse leader development program and provides consultative services to international healthcare organizations interested in nursing and simulation best practices. Dr. Mau’s teaching background includes training interdisciplinary teams in emergency preparedness and management of acute stroke using a variety of educational modalities including simulation and standardized patients. She led the enterprise-wide onboarding and orientation program for unlicensed nursing personnel and collaboration with local schools of nursing to support quality clinical and practicum experiences and to address urgent and emergent issues impacting nursing education.
