Abstract : Simulation-based education has long utilized prebriefing and debriefing as essential components of effective learning. This workshop introduces Neurographica, a creative, meditative art-based method, as an innovative tool to enhance both the cognitive and emotional aspects of these phases. Neurographica, rooted in neuroscience, helps participants connect on a deeper level, promoting emotional regulation, creativity, and reflective practice, all crucial in high-pressure healthcare environments.
In this interactive session, participants will experience how Neurographica can be integrated into prebriefing sessions to prepare students for simulation by reducing anxiety, fostering a sense of psychological safety, and encouraging open communication. During debriefing, the method supports emotional processing, enabling learners to express thoughts and feelings that may otherwise remain unarticulated. This holistic approach offers a unique pathway for reflection, contributing to the retention of key concepts and emotional well-being.
By the end of the workshop, attendees will have hands-on experience with Neurographica, understand its theoretical underpinnings, and learn practical applications for integrating it into prebrief and debrief sessions. This creative technique not only enhances learning outcomes but also aligns with the values of holistic nursing, making it a valuable addition to simulation education.
Please include a short summary of your presentation that highlights why an attendee would want to participate in your session.: Discover how Neurographica, an art-based, neuroscience-backed method, can transform prebrief and debrief sessions in simulation. This hands-on workshop teaches you to reduce anxiety, foster reflection, and enhance emotional processing, promoting better learning outcomes. Join us for a creative, holistic approach to simulation education!
Learning Objectives:
Upon completion, participants will be able to demonstrate how to incorporate Neurographica into prebrief sessions to reduce anxiety and foster psychological safety in simulation learning.
Upon completion, participants will be able to create a structured plan for integrating Neurographica into both prebrief and debrief phases to improve learner engagement and outcomes
Upon completion, participants will be able to apply Neurographica techniques in debrief sessions to facilitate emotional processing and enhance reflective practice
