3LLF1 - Fostering Local Alliances to Strengthen and Expand the Field of Healthcare Simulation

Abstract : The current landscape of healthcare simulation is marked by significant gaps, including a lack of collaboration among institutions, resource constraints, and geographic disparities. Healthcare and educational organizations often operate in silos, missing valuable opportunities for partnership to enhance simulation training and resource sharing. Smaller or underfunded organizations often struggle to establish robust simulation programs due to limited personnel and heavy workloads. Varying standards and a lack of knowledge-sharing platforms further complicate collaboration efforts.
This project aims to foster stronger local healthcare simulation alliances by increasing the number of organizations dedicated to collaboration. By promoting networking, idea exchange, and dissemination of work, we seek to address identified gaps and enhance the overall quality of simulation training and patient care. A key objective of this work includes acting as an advocacy organization, addressing State Board of Nursing (BON) requirements regarding simulation and clinical hours through a collaborative white paper submission.
Participants of this activity will develop skills for effective interdisciplinary, interorganizational communication and collaboration, and facilitating networking opportunities that strengthen institutional partnerships. Participants will examine best practices for creating platforms such as workshops and webinars to share successes and establish a resource repository accessible to alliance members. Additionally, attendees will learn to implement evaluation frameworks for measuring the effectiveness of simulation alliances, using data to demonstrate their impact on program improvement. Ultimately, this project aims to create a flexible and influential consortium that advances simulation within both academic and eventually, practice settings.
