Abstract : This presentation introduces the innovative role of the Simulation Safety Officer (SSO), developed for high-fidelity in-situ simulations at a comprehensive cancer center with high patient acuity. We will discuss the rationale behind creating this vital position, detailing the processes involved in its development and the significant impact it has had on simulation safety and learner engagement.

The SSO plays a crucial role in ensuring the safety of staff, patients, and bystanders during simulations, overseeing a range of responsibilities before, during, and after each event.
